Don't miss the chance to mark 'Mayflower 2020' with the concluding concert of Worcester Festival Choral Society's 2019-20 season, which combines three, superb, sea-themed choral and orchestral works in the soaring surroundings of Worcester Cathedral.
'Behold, the sea!' Vaughan Williams’ breathtaking choral masterpiece A Sea Symphony is imbued with a sense of adventure and the mighty power of the sea. From announcing itself with a thrilling brass fanfare to its final notes conjuring a vision of panoramic horizons, you'll be set for a memorable musical voyage.
Complementing the choral excitement will be Mendelssohn's unmistakable Hebrides Overture (Fingal's Cave) and Britten's vivid Four Sea Interludes (distilled from the opera Peter Grimes) performed by WFCS's orchestral partners, the Meridian Sinfonia.
Singing with the 150 members of Worcester Festival Choral Society will also be internationally acclaimed soloists: soprano Sarah Fox and baritone Julien Van Mellaerts. WFCS and Worcester Cathedral Director of Music Samuel Hudson conducts.
