Handel: Messiah

7th of December, 2019

A memorable evening of glorious, seasonal choral music in the majestic setting of Worcester Cathedral, Worcester Festival Choral Society’s Messiah is the region's ultimate Christmas concert.

For more than 275 years, George Frideric Handel’s compelling and richly varied Messiah has held a unique place in the affections of music lovers across the world.

Its greatest choruses – such as the instantly recognisable Hallelujah and For unto us a Child is Born – are among the most popular pieces of music ever written.

During the London premiere of Messiah in 1743, King George II is said to have risen to his feet during the Hallelujah - a tradition that is continued around the world today.

Performing with the 150 members of Worcester Festival Choral Society will be the Meridian Sinfonia period orchestra.

The acclaimed soloists (pictured left, clockwise from top left) are soprano Susanna Fairbairn, bass James Cleverton, mezzo soprano Joyce Tindsley and tenor Nick Pritchard.

WFCS and Worcester Cathedral Director of Music Samuel Hudson conducts.

Book tickets from our online Box Office HERE, or from Worcester Live, Huntingdon Hall, Worcester: Tel 01905 611427.

Some tickets also available on the door from 7pm on concert evening.
